... but since i wasn't that thirsty i was able to work on this song most of Saturday and Sunday...

Lyrics were hellish. I had over 200 cuts in between vox lines trying to remove all the itsy bitsy microphone noises that get picked up when u r not singing. What a pain, isn't a gate supposed to handle that sort of stuff? Anybody familiar with the settings that would handle that sort of thing?

My ears are actually sore, i wonder if that means i caused permanent damage

Anyway, here's the end result. The mix is still warm i can probably make some adjustments before it cools down and hardens or solidifies. I will get more coal for the forge of sound, or sound forge.

The bar just keeps getting higher..........

    Hey Buddy!

I said your last song was the best I heard from you, but I think you topped yourself with this gem.
I can ALMOST understand your lyrics, it's getting really close.

The transistion from verse to lead guitar is really ENTERTIANing!
    I applaud you Khomp!!!!!!

    Thumbs up Love the song!

    I can relate..............

    The performance is good too.

However, I would suggest that you not compress the 2 bus while mixing anymore. Save that for the mastering stage. No wonder your ears ache.

nice recording.......the progression is reminding me of something, but i'm having trouble placing it..........

maybe even a little more level on the distorted guitars in the chorus for a little more kick in those sections.......sounds good

You sure nailed that note at 2:27!
Singing is great. Song is great. So is the performance.

The mix is a little dull sounding. The guitars, bass and drums could use a little more punch and life.

HevyD - Thanks Dan, yeah i've gotten some pretty good eq advice for vox. Sometimes it gets pretty hard to make em legible when everything is hitting at the same time, but fun to try. Thanks for enjoying it.

mBrane - wait a second what do you mean 2 bus mix? You mean the instrument mix? I didn't compress it, just put a 0db limit on it in case i had some hot hits, most of it came in under. Thanks for the feedback.

powdah - I know what you mean, the whole time the intro reminded me of something too, if that's the part you mean. I boosted the the guits slightly for a little more punch. Thanks for the review.

fprod - Thanks for the review, like i mentioned to powder, i gave the guits and bass just slight boosts. Hopefully that will help.

    Thumbs up

Lynryd Skynryd tone <--> Incubus rhythm

    ....dobro vocals??

When the heavys come in... they sound over compressed or something... need aiirr... kick drum needs more beater click...

The bridge is similar to Foo Fighters "Hey Johnny Park"... maybe that's your "hey that's familiar" thing...

Great performance... very cool progressive arrangement and composition...

This will get double clicked more than 17 times

I would suggest not even limiting the 2-bus when mixing. It's a crutch IMHO, though I must admit to leaning on that crutch occasionally myself. I usually end up dissatisfied with the results though.

I just listened to it again, and it seems that the drum & bass are the main culprits. They've got that overcompressed muddy distortion thing goin' on. I like to compress/limit things a little at each stage rather than all at once. It helps to avoid that kind of thing.

Like Gallagher said: "Don't smoke dope when you're stoned. You don't get any higher, just lower on dope."

    Cool song dude...

Really good job on the vocals, great harmonies.. . You got a kickass voice...

It seemed a bit muddy... The kick sounded kinda sloppy/boomy, I think it would sound better if it were a bit thicker and punchier...

The bass didn't sound as good as your usual bass, not as defined... it seems a little boomy also....

The guitars sound really nice, especially those lead breaks, excellent tone and very tasty playing...

All in all a great effort ... the song kicks ass...
