HRC-How Dry I Am

Damn, Pete. This sounds terrific!

I like the change at :30. Lends itself to a nice vocal entry.

The harmonica sounds sweet. I'm not usually a big harmonica fan, unless it's played very well, and I like what you did with it here.

A lot of players would have played the acoustic parts haphazardly, just sort of mindlessly strumming the part, happy enough to just keep the tempo with it. You were mindful of your rhythms and accents. Well done.

Good tracking- mission accomplished.

Great stuff Pete. A day late, but a dollar extra. ;)

Tom

I agree with Tom....it sounds great Pete.I think you guys are onto something......these tracks sound GREAT compared to a few of your other "Fully" mixed tunes......I guess Less IS more....I dig the tune too.

Excellent tunage. Almost feels like old Outlaws. What's the guitar in the chorus? It sounds like it's flanging or phasing or something. It almost sounds like a resonator guitar. Got vocals for this?

Hey Pete -- Long time no see :D Hope all is well with you.

Love the tune - There are a lot of changes that keep it moving along nicely.

The recording sounds great on this end. Love that guitar work and the harmonica is a nice touch...Looking forward to hearing this with vocals.

:)

p.s. hopefully I'll get something to you soon...I'm working on it!

:D

Like it, very nice.

Sounds like the end of tune though.. Get some lyrics and vocals going, that would shift it.

Nice concept so far.

Thanks guys,your the best!

SLuiCe-Hey Tom,thanks my friend.
You made my day!

Glad you liked the harp.
I apprecite the guitar comments, your acoustics are always extra nice.

"A day late, but a dollar extra."
But how come I'm still a dollar short!:D

Kramer-Thanks K,always a pleasure to have you listen man.

I have to agree with you, sounds better dry.
I think from now on,reverb on vocals only!
(A lot of reverb!):D

Funny thing is,not only is this dry,I screwed up when I recorded it.

I had a blank song set up on my recorder so I used it.
I didn't realize till I burnt the CD that it was 16/44 from the get go.
I've been doing 24/48 lately and didn't even hear the differance.

I don't know if it's the lack of processing or what.
Go figure!

Track Rat-Thanks very much Mike,I appreciate the listen!

Ya,I dig the old Outlaws.
"Green Grass and High Times",now there's a great song to play,eh!;)

The guitar in the chorus is a Seagull 12 string I bought used.
Has a real nice sound, but it's a bugger to record.
I spent 2 hours today to try and get it,that's the best I came up with.

I don't know if it's because it's Mahogony,or just the nature of the beast?
I'll have to keep messing with it.

M.Brane-Thanks for taking the time!
Glad you liked it.
I appreciate the comments.

I've been meaning to catch everybody else's stuff, but the site's been really slow lately.
Hey,no time like the present!:D

boydrj -Hey Rob!
How are you doing bro.
Great I hope!

I'm really glad you liked this, thanks for the listen.
Your comments are always very much appreciated.
I'm still try to work out some lyrics.

" p.s. hopefully I'll get something to you soon...I'm working on it!"

Take your time man,I always do!:D

I'm heading over right now to check out your latest masterpiece!

Emeric-Thanks very much!
I always dig your stuff!

Definitly needs some vocals to bring it around.
Now to the real work!:D

Thanks,
Pete

Izzat you playing the harp? Very pretty song Pete. I hear what your saying about the 12 string. It doesn't sound like you've found the sweet spot yet. I've got a Seagull 12 string too, but I haven't tried to record it yet. Now I'm nervous! Let me know if you find the secret.

Twist

Hey Twist,
Thanks man!

Ya,I have to take all the blame for the harp!:D

I love the Seagull, great guitars for the price.
I'll let you know how I make out with it.

Pete

I kept expecting to hear Neil Young come in at any moment. With a little haybarn ambience, this sounds like an unreleased track from Harvest! I would like to hear it with the vocal, when that happens. I don't know if the drums are real or not, but they are mixed just where they should be. I dig that dry, fat snare tone for sure--and the whole shebang is played very well.

Pete, great work so far.....love that harmonica.......

cant wait to hear this finished!

Hey Pete,
...very very nice man!! The acoustics sound sweeet! Very well played here, and cleanly put together. Now tell me how much you're digging those new monitors.:) Im very much looking forward to the vocs on this..... Its gonna be another Museman classic ala Bethsaida (I hope i spelled that right).

wow man...... Great!

g w/5

Btw: I received a certain package in the mail yesterday from a certain great guy. He's gonna look damn handsome in those Pete. I cant express how nice of you that was.
....another 5 for being such a nice guy. .....this 5 is from Mike:)

I enjoyed listening to this very much. It was pretty smooth acroos the board. Good melody. I would think the story sung on top of it would be really good. The only thing I`d have to comment on would be, if I were an organ player I`d love playing a b3 in the background on the choruses just playing whole notes on the chord changes with the leslie on slow.

yeah, pete, the tracks sound great........time for the vocal, this could do well with one

the only thing that i kind of noticed is that the snare might not carry as much presence as it could compared to the kick...the kick sounds sweet though.......

great clean guitar playing.....it really makes this one

you got that clean harp sound down.. everything sounds ready for vocals.. although powderfinger mentioned the drums and I agree there is something.. then again there is probably always going to be.. :D Lets get some vocals on this pup.. I was doing a very inappropriate solo over this as it played a few times.. Be glad you couldn't hear it!

BTW - my Dad just sent me my first real acoustic.. It's an Ibanez Route 61.. It has built in electronics, but it sounds pretty sweet on its own.. I'm sure I'll be going direct when it's time to record it though.. That is, after I learn how to play it.. :D

crawdad-Thank you sir!

Ya I was raised on Neil, definitly my style.
A good smack and a thump every once in a while,but tenderly:D

The drums were from my drum machine, really glad you thought they were o.k.
Sounds pretty good for samples.;)
Thanks for the listen.

Gidge-Hey Mike,really glad you liked it,thanks.
Hope you don't have to wait too long,if you know what I mean.:D

Guernica-Hi Mike!
Thanks my friend, very glad you liked it.
I appreciate the acoustic comments.

I'm totally digging the new monitors!
Great to be able to hear what I'm doing, they seem to relate pretty well too.

A museman classic,now there's an oximoron if I ever heard one!:D

Glad you got the package.
I told you it was music related, did you dig the special pick pocket?:D

Thanks for the five man.
As we say around these parts,Just mark it on the ice.;)

Toki987-Thanks very much.
I appreciate you taking the time to listen.
I'm just getting started on the lyrics, the tough part!

I like the organ idea,I'll have to give it a try, thanks.

powderfinger-Hey Drew!
Thanks my friend, really glad you liked this.
Great to hear you think the acoustic is o.k.

What do you think the problem with the snare is,just not loud enough?
Mabey I should try double tracking it to add some beef?

B.SABBATH -Hey Sam!Great to see you around again man.
Hope everything is going better for you!

Glad you liked the harp sound,I'd like it a little fuller though.
Have to keep experimenting I guess.

What do you think I can do for the drums, any suggestions?

"I was doing a very inappropriate solo over this as it played a few times.. Be glad you couldn't hear it!"

Dude,I could dig ANY solo you did,as long as it's on a geetar!:D

That's Really cool of your Dad!

It will be a piece of cake.
Before you know it,you'll be doin unplugged Ozzy!
Enjoy my friend!

Thanks guys,
Pete

I'm not exactly sure, but it just doesn't hit like the kick does. Try soloing the drums. relative to the kick, if the snare sounds like a good volume, maybe try just beefing it up....if it sounds a little low soloed, jack it up just a bit

hi pete :)

im downloading this one right now....

im really exhausted from getting up at 4:00 this morning... long day... so i have to hit the hay right now

so... i'll give ya some comments tomorrow

i hope your doing well
