Here are the other two Bomber songs (last of the 2" tape)

The other two songs from the Wayback machine...

Hit Man: Sounds like it's about the Mafia, but it's actually about a drummer friend who took time out of a very busy schedule to play on a track of ours, Kenny Aronoff. He was recording and touring with some guy named Mellencamp, and these days is all over the place doing sessions and tours. He comes by every couple of years to do drum clinics at Gordy's store, and we get to play a song or two with (imo) the nicest, but kick-assinest drummer there is.
Gordy sings lead again, Bobby on keys and lead guitar, yours truly on one of two rhythm guitar tracks.

Dancing on the Wall: This is the one track of the four where we weren't going for top 40. I got to the studio later than the other guys that night because of something remarkable that was happening. The Berlin Wall was being torn down.
When I got there, I told the guys about it, and we all sat there blown away.
Bobby said he had a dropped-D guitar piece he was working on, so we tracked it then I went into the office and wrote the words.
It was gratifying when we learned that the song got some airplay in Germany shortly after.

These are the last two tracks from the four-song set, link below.

Im listening to "Hit Man" man is this is good stuff. This is still relevant in todays blues Genre.Who's doing all the back up vocals on this? This has a "fabulous thunderbirds" feel to it.

This recording is actually better than what Im getting out of my digital recorder.:o Who's the guitar slinger playing the solos? This is cool MKG.Both thumbs up on this one.I'll check the other one out tomorrow. It's bedtime on the east coast.

p.s. how were those drums recorded?Do you still remember?LOL..They have a big sound.

Ok,I couldnt go to bed without clicking on the other tune.;)"Dancing on the Wall" is EXCELLENT man!

I love the Acoustic guitars, piano, drums vocals and lead solo!Oh yeah, there goes a harmony guitar line on the end of the solo.

Outstanding melody to this one. This reminds me of one of the power groups from the late 70's but I cant put my finger on it....regardless of who it sounds like,it sounds Great! Thanks for posting these.I think Im gonna go into the analog(4-track)closet and see if there is anything salvageble.

Good tunes man!;)

p.s.thats cool that it got some air play over in germany!

ooooh nice .. liked that acoustic... cool stuff...

shooting on the Hit Man track ... :D did you record that ... :D

good tracks did ever end up on an album?

cheers

Kramer, backup vocals on Hit Man are Debbie Dugger and Jeff Wahler... Jeff is now with the band full time, and along with Gordy, is one of our lead vocalists... great pipes.
Guitar slinger is Bob Blackford, my writing partner... equally adept on keys, he's the musical backbone of the band.
Drums were recorded in a booth, that's about all I remember...:D also, the drummer had to play his part in time with a machine, then we erased the machine track.
Dancing on the Wall is all Bob, with the exception of bass and drums. I like it because it's a song for song's sake, we weren't going for commercial with this one.
I'd really like to hear your 4 track stuff, hope you post it soon.
Thanks, man!

Fed, the shooting is a gunshot that the engineer spliced in from a sound effects record.
These songs were released on cassette, I guess you'd call it an EP. We sold a few locally, but it never really went anywhere except into storage.
Thanks for listening.

just checked out 'hitman'

Nice vocals.. I didnt read any comments, but sounds like it could have beem a hit.. maybe still can!

I'm late on this one, but I just listened and thought I would tell you I liked it..

late

Sam, thanks buddy... we still perform this song live, gets a good reaction most of the time... at least people keep dancing!
I read about your comp problems in another thread, bummer.
But very good to see you're back in the saddle.

Mark

i like 'hitman' more than 'dancing on the wall', the latter is a bit too 'soft rockish' for me, but both sound quite well done recordings..........thumbs up

powderfinger, thanks very much for the listen and comments.

Rick, thanks man...my songwriting partner was curious as to whether any of these would hold up, I'll tell him that many of you guys feel that they would.

Dancin on the wall...: awesome bass.

HITMAN: ...ah, now there's a groove. Huey Lewis once again!! :p :D You guys probably could have done a great "Power of Love" cover. Sounds like about 1985.... tho the date was 1988? Could definitely hear this on one of those 45's (they kind of have that sound, right before cassettes got popular... we still had the 45's...) There's a little bit of the song "Jungle Love" in there, too...

Man, shows you just how much we all loved reverb in the 80's ;)

Cool tracks, mark.

Chad

Chad, amen bro... the studio where we tracked had the big old verb units in the basement. The engineer could practically dial up the ocean if he wanted... and I think he did on some of these!
Are you talkin' the Steve Miller Jungle Love or Morris Day? (ohwheeohwheeoh).

All comments have been very encouraging, I thank you all for listening and for your reactions.

Mark

It's just a really danceable song, mark :) Could definitely see mr Day there, one hand up, the other on his stomach, back & forth one foot, other foot, one foot, other foot, (like Gumby or somethin'), spin, jump down into a split, etc :D

It's definitely cool... no disrespect intended :D

Chris, here I am keepin' it up (just call me Mr. Viagra)...

Chad, I dug the hell out of your comment and comparison, didn't get any disrespect at all... Morris Day is cool beans, man! :D
Our band is all about dancin' and shakin'!

Nice!

Hitman: Nice vocals! And there's nothing I can say wrong about the other performances. Ya, this is great! Nice sounding lead git at 2:30ish. If must lay out a comment, I didn't care for the snare sound...sounded processed to death. But then, I get my snare sounds from a keyboard, so what can I really say about that! This song is great...were you the rhythm git panned left?

Dancing on the Wall: phenominal guitar sound. Did you record this? Very impressive sound, very well mixed IMO. Again, I don't dig the snare, but I know that is totally preference. Nice job

Hitman - Biggest, coolest drums I've heard ever in my life on anything ever...in my life.

Dancing on The Wall: (My personal Favorite)
Cool Intro - "I am a Jelly Do-Nut?" (that's what kennedy said, btw...he MEANT to say "I am a Berliner,"...he JUUUUUUST missed it).

Mark, I really like the second song a ton. It's just more my thing. I really like the song. And yeah, the acoustics sound great.

THANK YOU FOR THIS,
-chris
