Fences - to keep us in or them out?

Not bad. Guitars sound kind of flat. The lead tone is nice, but it needs some shininess to it. The whole mix lacks sizzle. Drums sound good. Programmed?

Cool tune. You should punch the flubs on the guitar in the intro, like at 0:30 and 0:40. Also, the rhythm guitar on the left really doesn't have much air at all. Notice the difference when the programmed drums come in, you need to try to make the guitars fit it with that room sound, otherwise it sounds like they don't belong together.

After that, the leads are cool, nice melodic touch.

The transition at 2:50 doesn't work for me. Sounds like a complete different tune all of a sudden, the panning reverses . . . kinda strange.

Other thoughts on the subject:

The Who, "Dangerous":

Fences, we put up our defences.
Then we come to our senses.
It may keep them out
But it keeps us in
And that makes us dangerous
We're all dangerous to ourselves

and Five Man Electrical Band, "Signs":

And the sign said anybody caught trespassin'
Would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house,
"Hey! What gives you the right?"
"To put up a fence to keep me out
Or to keep mother nature in?"
"If God was here He'd tell you to your face,
Man, you're some kinda sinner"
