EJected - need first mix comments

I have a very rough first mix of a new tune.
Kind of reminds me of Eric's Johnson. :o
Sorry Eric, no offense intended. It's the best I can do :D

I tested several guitar tones in this mix and the drum track is not finished yet.
I'm interested in opinions
1) If the composition is ok
2) General mix comments.
3) Guitar tone comments.

I know the ending is too loud and I don't like the guitar tone at 1:56.
Other than that, how is it so far?

Thanks.
EJected - first mix

Cool composition.

Great playing.

I think the opening guitars sound good in the mix, once the lead (the centre guitar) comes in its a bit brutal, a bit too raw sounding.
Maybe drop the volume a tad, and add a little verb.

anyway just some thoghts.

I liked the track, and the axe work is smoking  :)

Thanks for the idea's Naka.
You mean at :37 when the first lead comes in right?
I'll be able to tweak out another mix early next week, maybe Tuesday. see ya

I liked it, I was waiting for the vocal to come in, but once the main lead guitar came in, I knew that wasn't likely happening.

Some good guitar work, I'd like to hear it with a vocal added to it. As a stand alone instrumental I'm not sure it has longevity for me.

Nice work though.

This does have a Eric Johnson vibe to it....drum sound is kinda bright to me..cymbals specificaly...sounds like your flipping diffrent pickups around the 2:00 mark...cool effects.I really like your playing/style!!End was a bit jacked up suddenly volume wise.Great jam man!

Thanks guys, all good ideas here.

This is just a mock up, if you will, on the overall composition.
I'll probably re-do all the parts from scratch.

I was testing different guitar tones. I think I like the first guitar tone the best. There are two different tones in the middle that I don't like as well. The first is at 1:45 and then the 2nd is at 1:56. :(

There will be no singing, I can post a couple examples of why not. :o

Drums are just a scratch track at this point.

A few people on different forums also thought it needed some sort of break in the middle to get away from the guitar for just a bit. Maybe a drum and bass break?. This sounds like a good idea too!

I'll get back on this later this week, make some changes and check back.

see ya

Ditto....................cool stuff though! :D

Ok, here's the 2nd mix.
Much less crude than the first test mix.
I have re-done the drums, bass and several of the guitar parts. There are more parts to be re-done yet.
I added a short break at 2:08. I tried to stay out of the break, but uhhhh. :P
I changed the guitar tones on the parts that I didn't like before. The new tones are at 1:45 and 1:56.

See how this mix sounds on your PC.

Thanks there DK.
I still have to re-do some of the first mix placeholder guitar parts.

It's weird. I have 3 systems at home here on a network.
3 completely different speakers systems, amplifiers, etc.
Each system sounds different.

The cheapo speakers on this system have the kick sounding too loud and punchy. The kick sounded fine on the other two systems.
