Dogman - Thanks for listening and commenting. I think Mike wrote that intro riff - he's equally adept at guitar or bass.
I'll talk to Mike about a remix to up the music a bit and to use his DBX compressor on the final. I think he used it but I'll check.
bigbubba - Thanks! I like the comparison to Dire Straits - one of my all time favorite bands. This tune is written and sung by Mike (MJHAMIL). He's the bass player in the group. Photos - in the group photo it's Gerry/Lee/Mike. I have a solo photo posted next to this song in Soundclick.
rayc - Appreciate the listen, sir.....this is one of our favorites to play as Lee really cranks it up on the drums. Compressing the main vocal could be done if we were to wire the compressor inline when mixing down. I'll pass that to Mike for consideration. Possible compressing the whole mix might work but we'll need to test that theory. I agree - that fade out was a bit preemy - there's a couple more riffs that are pretty cool
. Mixer's discretion however....
Bulls Hit - thanks for taking the time to listen, we appreciate it. Will look into the comp. suggestion....
SnakeDog - Thanks James
We can look at the low end in the vox too....Though there isn't a defined lead break in the tune, but I'm trying to add some lead riffs in spots to spice it up - still working on that
This is being played "live" with no overdubs and I know I tend to move back and forth from the mic myself in that situation. A dynamic mic might make that more noticeable too (proximity effect). Those are Lee's new drums you hear in this take
