I tryed to figure out Imagine for fun and ended up finishing a version and I was on a recording spurt.

I could not remember the words and dont know why I did it like this but well.

I wanted it all in one take, so mistakes an all, live.

Do you think I have ruined the song? if so sorry. I was kindof happy I finished something in under an hour.

I know the harmony is kindof wierd too and the middle bit doesn`t actually exist but is that aloud?

Its my first cover so be gentle cos I know that the original is untouchable.

:o

Lol, sorry dinner was getting cold! ha

You've got a real unique voice.Good choice of cover and you did that great man and all of us a favor by reminding everyone that we're all here together, forever and ever until we fuck with hyper-dimensional physics and displace our planet to another part of the universe.Good job:cool:

and thanx Sam:D

Ok, I got the link from another thread.

To me, John Lennon is definitely the number one beatle and the most important artist in music overall, so I'm especially interested in covers of his work.

I wouldn't count Imagine as one of my favourites, but that doesn't change the fact, that your performence is outstanding. You've got one hell of a voice and the guitar playing is exellent.

The sound quality of both vocals and guitars is top class.

Personally, I wouldn't change the original that much if I was to make a cover, but thats only a matter of principle I guess :).

Nevertheless, I'm really touched by your performance. It sounds like you should be heading for the big game.

Thanks a lot for sharing and best wishes from

Erik

well.. I hate that song...

but leave it to you to make it sound good... :p

Your guitars were really tight on this one. (for the most part) They really filled it out. Pretty freaking good for an hour... considering my crap takes two or three days just for the first mix. :p

Oh yeah... and why aren't you on the radio yet, you schmoe? :p Come on man.. just stand out on a street corner somewhere with a big sign saying "Voice of Gold for sale".

Have I mentioned that I'd kidnap you if you ever came to the States....?

No...?

Oh..

well I would.

:D

Im really digging your voice man..
I was kindof covering this song, but I defaced it a little more.

Try it with these lyrics.

Gee I really like cornbread... wrote a song about it.. like to here it? here it go.

Imagine theres no cornbread..
Its easy if you try.
Wonderbread dont make no fucking cornbread
only white and rye.

Imagine theres no cornbread
only white and rye..
woo hoooo woo hooo hoo

Imagine theres no roastbeef...
It isnt hard to do...
first there was no cornbread.
now the roast beefs gone too..

What will we have for dinner???
Im sick of Tuna Fish...
woo hoooo woo hoo hoo.

Some say .. they like cornbread..
so we're not the only ones.
In a world where the cornbread is king...
running out is just no fun....

ohyeah and erland the song sounded great too...

I think this song has more of your vibe/style than the original. You can totally change the words and claim this yours :) Don't get me wrong tho, I think this is great.
And, honestly, listening to your recordings has always prevented me from buying more gears and just try to focus on song-writing and enjoying the music.

Is that still your little pepper bottle acting as a maracas?

sounds pretty sweet erland.. this sounds like one of your originals, so I listened with those ears.. nice job man!

great to see you back-great rendition -vocals sound great-nice acoustic tone too- Also wanted to tell you ive listened to "from a boy to a girl" and "hope my eyes meet you" about a hundred times-great, great songs. Looking forward to anything you put out.

hey cheers. I cant listen to the whole thing through so I am going to scrap it I think but thanks for the feedback chaps.

Erik O. wow. that was an amazingthing to say. To me Paul is my favourite beatle but this song is John at his best. Untouchable song but I tryed for fun and you liked it so I am delighted. I dont think it is that good though!

W.I.S.C. It was a first take which I was happy about but I would like to change it in a few dodgy spots. I cant really becasue I mixxed it down on the four track. cheers wisc, happy new year.

WATYF. I love your expressions! schmoe Lol! well maybe I`ll come to America this summer and well grab a beer. I would love to use those mics of your too!

demensia. Lol man I dont even know what cornbread is! thanks though

Jamal Bucket. nice

A1A2. Hey there! I coulnt agree more about the music and I think I am learning even better how to nail a song together. I got given a wee plastic egg shaker! its great...point me to some of your latest work dude.

B.SABBATH. I mashed it up a bit but thanks Sam. Lets do collab again. I did this thing on fruity loops and a direct guitar. It has really cheezy lyrics no bass or nothing. For a laugh we could build it up?

Stratomaster. Man you are awsome. I cant believe you listened to those songs. Thanks for the grat vibes your giving me. wohoo. I`ll post another

Well... I don't drink... but don't let that stop you from comin' on over and havin' a beer... since.. you know... your reflexes will be slowed by the alcohol, and then it won't be so hard for me to get the ropes and the duck tape on you...

this'll be the easiest kidnapping ever...

:D

Yeah.. so anyway... if you ever do come by this way, just let me know... we'll jam for sure. I may even let you touch my Taylor... (sorry mixmkr.. not you... :p) And aboot those mics... that's no problem.. my bro likes your stuff too. If you did stop by, we could head on over there and do some recordings with all that nifty crap that he's got. :D

i really liked this a lot, but not so much because of the song but more because of your voice... i really love your tone, man. i wish i had that kind of voice. you have all your notes dead on plus you definitely have your own voice... you come across as a singer and not just some guy singing... i hope you know what i mean by that because it's really the only way i can put it.

as far as the mixing and stuff, there really isn't much to say... couple guitars and a couple of voices.. everything sounded great. i suppose it could've used some sort of percussion but that's probably just because most of the music i listen to is built on drums and i'm just not used to hearing much without them. i thought the harmonies were great also.
only two things i would've changed if i'd been in the studio when you recorded this.

repetitiousness with the "imagine all the people" line... maybe if you had put those more in the background and played it off like it was your backup singers keeping the mood during some sort of instumental break... maybe a soft acoustic guitar solo with the line repeating in the background.. harmonized between three or four people... think of mariah carey's "without you" during the instrumental break singing "can't live... oh i can't live"
but hey, that's just the way i wouldv'e gone, and we don't all have the same head...

the other thing is the added syllables during the chorus "imagine all the pee puh-ooh-woah"... just brings a little too much commercialism (sellability) to what mostly comes across as very honest heart-felt version of a song that seems to mean a lot to the singer (you)

for the most part, this is one of the best productions i've heard on this forum. and my complaints aren't really complaints.. if i had to change something, those two things would be it, if i had a gun to my head.

Wow.... I love this version! This is really good. You have a cool voice that's pretty distinct. Great harmonies to!
Congradulations!

When I started playing this song, I thought he was going to play Lennon's "Watching The Wheels."

Listen to the demo of "Watching The Wheels" right here. Rename the file from .mp to .mp3 .

You did a really good job and the acoustic sounds really good.

i think you really took this song and made it your own. nice work man...

i am a big lennon fan...not a HUGE imagine fan...i mean, i think it's a good song...but, the way you do it...it's closer to great, imho. just a different vibe.
