So in my opinion, something has to be done to let this song stick out more. Not a complete overhall, just a little something. But think big! Think loud noises! Think dynamics! Think about what's exciting to you as a fan of music, and then over emphasize it!

One note on this comment, this is a HUGE deal with labels and A&R Folk, but you may nbot have to THINK huge. Every Producer I have ever worked with has mentioned and agreed, that subtle things can bring a recorded song together. Listen to any type o negative song (wrong genre i know but a shining example of this statement) there is something in each song that brings it altogether, small things like a shaker, or tamborine make a huge difference when placed in the background of the song, you actually have to TRY to hear it, but its there.

I know, you're thinking, its rock, i dont want a shaker in my music, that will sound gay! try it, trust me, it adds a small level of dynamics with a huge impact.
