Seperating Bass Drum and Bass in the mix

I´m producing Hip Hop music in my home studio.

I got the following Problem:

If I want a Kick drum to sound "fat", I usually layer a nature kick with an 808
kick for that "boom" ! But how do I manage
to mix that with low frequent "sub"-basslines?

Any suggestions for Eq-ing?

Before using the EQ to cut or boost, have you tried panning?

Assigning different panning space for the bass drum and the electric bass will help "keep the apart" sonically.

Have you tried triggering a tone using the side chain of your compressor in place of the 808. I think this method sounds amazing. Just a suggestion.

Hey Breaker B- - -...- - -

Must be tough recording when you have nowhere as a location?

Try putting your drum track down first, ALONE. Yeah, man, you need to count the measures and/or create the drum song. {Here is a tip: use the fade-out method to end a song for a while; thus, your endings will be easier until recording becomes easier.}

After you get your drum track down, do the chords on another track; then, do the bass on another track. Voila!!! You will have separation of the tracks. You can also chunk up your bass track by upping the low end of your EQ a bit. I like to do this with some of my bass patches because it makes for a Phaaat sound.

Keep twiddling those dials....
