Resonance troubles.

I've been finding this for a while now that I'm go#etting annoying resonance issues between 200-400hz.

I've gone about a year before picking up my guitar and wanted to start laying down a few sludgey type riffs. It's nothing special at all, but instantly I was hit with resonance!!!

I've tried combating it with tight q-ed eqs but when I get somewhere near to the resonance being depleted, it's affecting the tone.

Any ideas?!

Is that the before or oafter EQ...?

Sounds OK to me on my computer speakers.
Maybe you're cutting to drastically. Sometimes the difference between good/bad is just a matter of "kissing it" with the EQ cut.

Is the room you are recording in treated properly? There could be a 200-400hz build up in the room?

Late reply, sorry guys. Been back through and rerecorded the guitars and bass. On the original I'd driven a compressor too hard so everytime I attenuated a frequency, it was hammering another! lol.

getting there now though :)

Could try frequency conscious compression so it only happens on the notes you want turned down? Then I would place another compressor after this that acts to some degree on the whole bass sound.
