New Britney Spears cover sounds odd

She is doing a cover of "I love Rock'n'Roll" by Joan Jett.
Did you hear it? It sounds so strange. At first I thought there was a problem with my surround settings, and i tried to put everything flat. But I think is the song, not my equipment.

It has some small drums right upfront, then the voice a little smaller, and then the rest barely audible. Is this a new trend or something? I really don't get it.

The video is funny, cause the guitar player has a wall of Marshall cabinets. He looks like Gene Simmons, he sounds like Erasure.

Or maybe something is wrong with my TV. Who knows. I just hope this isn't the new thing.

I would be ashamed to come on TV that way. Reminds me of the 'We Will Rock You Cover' that that dreadful boysband Five did.

It's like: 'hey we haven't got any creativity left so lets cover one them older singalong rock tunes as easily as possible to earn quick a lot of extra cash. When you make a cover as a single, try to do something creative and new with it, like Junkie XL did with 'Little Less Conversation' '

And the irony: Britney Spears singing: I love Rock'n'roll. She is everything Rock'n'roll ain't.
