    Hey lads,

Quick question: do you have any special tricks to mix overdriven screaming vocals to enhance the singerís technique?

Sometimes I feel the overdriven vocals just get lost in the mix.

No mixing will fix bad technique.
Move the microphone back 10 or 20 feet if they scream.

Why are they lost in the mix.
Boost the gain on the vocals during mixing and reduce gain on the rest.

Technique is ok I guess. Point is that I really want to enhance that raspy overdrive. Make it agressive. Díya know?

    actually,
    with modern daws,
recording a very clean capture (even if he's screaming, mic techniques have to be spot on).
then, parallel process it with a gain/distortion plug (say, run his voice thru a marshall full stack!)

    mix to suit.

Slam it with some Gain Reduction and add a Decapitator plugin...
