try to bear with me on this one. its a new rig that includes:

folio notepad mixer
shure mic
dbx project one mic preamp with effects
yamaha sound card
yamaha system 45 monitors

question:

i need to confirm that the mic gets plugged directly into the dbx and then the output of the dbx goes into the notepad. but what line in on the notepad do i use? do i use the "effects" loop? does it just go straight into the mic input via the 1/4 phone plug?

also for monitoring, i'd like to keep my standard computer sound system going without having to re-plug cables between editing sessions and regular use. the yamaha speaker system has a subwoofer that includes a line 2 option. do i go into that?

if you need more clarification please dont hesitate to ask.

thanks.

If you are using your effects loop then the mic will go straight to your mixer and you'll adjust the amplification in your mixer. Otherwise let you mic be hooked to your pre-amp and then directly to mixer input. I prefer the latter.

For monitoring, hook your speakers to the mixer's monitor out. Send out the signal from the sound card to the 'tape in' of the mixer. If your mixer do not have that then forget the mixer, go direct to the speakers.
