i love negative rep
just for the fun of it, on dog's song i did an experiment.
same eq settings on both songs, same rms (close enough)
this test is with only eq and limiting, all other effects turned off.
with the L1
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=3080
with a free telephone filter from JK with the eq section turned off and getting gain using a slider labeled drive (as in, distortion)
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=3081
this is done with 6db of gain on both accounts
i've been playing with this phone filter a lot recently...... but usually only using like 1 or 2 db of gain reduction, not 6.
i kind of like what it does to the top end.
here, i did the null test for you (and cranked it up a bit)
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=3082
i would assume most of the crap you here is from the phone filter, probably a little is from the L1.
the "peakyness" of it is because the L1 track actually peaks a little higher than the phone track, resulting in slightly less of a null on peaks than there should actually be.
