First mix with real monitors

Until now I mixed with classic 2 * 50 watt Hi-fi tower. The results with that hi-fi started to get cool for demo recordings. But I decided to get step forward, so I racently bought new monitors. I tryed to mix one song that I already mixed with hi-fi but... I did total crap out of that mix. :confused:

Now the question. How to get started with monitors? What are the key factors for sucessfull mix on monitors?

I am really thankfull for all your support. :) :D ;)
 
I would expect it would come down to relearning what the new balances are, where 'normal is again.

That's a good question. I recently started mixing on Monitors (I'm still getting "up and running") and notice a huge difference in sound from mixing to Hi-fi to "real" nearfields. Is it a process of training the ear to hear "flat" or is there something that I need to know? *L*
