Firewire MAC OS X Mixing Desk

hello, im new to this,
i got about £100-£150 ish pound to spend, i want about a 6 to 8 or even 16 channels to record microphones.
I will buy second hand, i will buy new, as long as it works.

i want it to work in logic 9, and i have a mac os x 10.6.7

i hope some one can help me

I think you'll have trouble finding anything that will send 6 mic amps down a firewire/usb connection in that budget, and I would be astonished if you find anything with 8, never mind 16.

Your best bet would be to have a rummage around ebay, because for that kind of money you'll probably only be able to get 2 channels on usb if you buy new, and buy online.

Any suggestions from anyone else?

Cheapest retail 8 mic input interface I can find is at $399 US, the Phonic Firefly 808. Then, at $499 there are several to choose from.

I think your best bet is to get something used from eBay or similar.

Keep in mind, that's 8 channels recording at the same time. If you only need 1 or two, then you can get something for much cheaper. Remember, any audio interface will let you play back as many channels at once as your DAW will, which for Logic 9 is a lot. It's going into the computer at once that's the expensive restriction.
