drum sample replacement

I’m working with a producer who is currently mixing this track – he says the drums are a little weak and thin and he wants to fatten them up by adding drum samples.

I’ve definitely read before about people using recorded material (hi hat, kick, snares etc) to trigger samples. What’s the best way to go about doing this? I could import samples and just move them manually but is there a way to set up a triggering system so I don’t have to move every sample to match the drums on the grid?

I have the following software to work with (all Mac)

Cubase SX 3
Pro Tools LE 6.9
Reason Adapted

My drum samples will come from BFD.

Any ideas?

can i use drumagog in conjunction with my own drum samples?

I don't think so, I think you can only use the samples the demo comes with. Once you buy it, you can use anything you want.
