Want to try mastering this for me?

In almost even article about recording it always says to get your stuff mastered by someone else. That someone else will be able to add something to the song that you missed, blah blah blah blah. So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to experiment and see if anyone wants to try mastering this. Will it really make that much of a difference?

Here's the original thread for this song where you can here 3 or 4 different mixes I've done so far lol...

I've been trying to mix this song so many damn times to get it to sound like other albums that are much clearer and break though. I've tried listening tricks and putting shit in front of the speaker to change the sound and just all kinds of complete nonsense "tricks" that are supposed to help LOL. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a new perspective.

I can take a look at it for you and give some feedback, which is what I would recommend anyone do before mastering anyway. It's usually possible to improve masters by improving mixes.

ok, but keep in mind that it's already to the best of my ability LOL... If I could mix it any better I would. :cursing:

Really the first thing that came to mind was the drums. If it were me I'd make the snare and kick slightly brighter. To me the song just has a dull feel that would be neutralized somewhat by lifting the highs on those drums.

Cool/ feels better to work with now. You could make some other adjustments in similar fashion but I think if you just want someone else's take on a master I can take a pass at it.

Thank alot man. It's interesting hearing other people's take on how things should sound. I'm still sort of listening to the different versions and comparing them. Appreciate it :D

I was able to take a quick pass at it this morning. If I do anything else it might be to make it brighter overall, but I'm only thinking that because some of the mix elements are still on the darker side, so it is somewhat subjective. Actually it's probably fine where it is :)

Thank you I'll probably make some kind of thing where we can listen to the different version and compare them. I'm not really sure what I'm going for and I don't know which sounds better lol. So, damn confusing!

Here ya go, Happy Halloween, took almost sixty seconds except waiting for it to render and upload to google drive.....click on the link and it should stream, otherwise download....you're welcome....JJ

My ol' lady likes it, but to me it seems like it's lost all dynamics and is overly harsh to my ears. And I'm not trying to be insulting or anything. Just telling you what I'm thinking.

Hey thanks guys. It was interesting to hear the changes people made to it. I couldn't really decide which one I like the best. There was a few really good ones. I'm going to take a break from working on music for a while and probably won't be active here on the forums until I start working on some music again. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to help me out :D
