Web Series from my Home Studio

I mentioned this project in another thread, and a few people were curious to see it. Here is the first episode of my new web series, Single Car Sessions. It features live in-studio sets from local musicians in my area, along with documentary-style interviews.

The video quality ain't great...I don't have fancy cameras, and I basically learned how to edit while doing this. The audio quality is decent, though I wish I could have gotten a little more beefiness in the drums. Also, the singer wanted to use his reverb pedal on the vocals...something I will likely not allow in future episodes. Either way, let me know what you think. And if you like it, please subscribe!

Nice work.

Maybe you mentioned it somewhere...but what's the meaning behind the name "Single Car"....?
Is that your studio name or just the video sessions......??? :)

I've seen a few of the vids. Cool. Like the production, and in particular the B&W.

It is the unofficial name of the studio....it's in in my single car garage :thumbs up:

Here's episode 3! I think the audio quality on this one is the best yet...it probably helps that the lead guitarist is also a producer/engineer. I could tell that a lot of thought was put into the arrangement since they knew it would be a live recording. Most things were pretty well balanced from the start. These guys are also possibly my favorite band from the area, so I didn't mind sitting there mixing for a long time to get it just right :)

Here is episode 5...I've known these guys for a long time, and I think it's really cool how big of a rock sound they can get with only two members. I also think the audio came out pretty good, the drummer is a professional sound engineer and had a few tips for me. He also brought a REALLY nice ribbon mic for recording the rear of the guitar cab :guitar:

I got a little creative with the vocal effect on the first track with the singer's blessing. Let me know what you think!

I like it. The snare is a little too dry to me, but the tone is great. And the vocal seems to have some phase cancellation or flanging on it. Fun session though, I bet. I like these guys Black Keys/White Stripes meets Beck kind of duo thing.

Yeah, I liked the weird phasey vocals on the first song.. It's actually running through Guitar Rig, LOL! Only for that on song though...but yes, they have a killer sound for a 2 pc, and the session was a lot of fun!

Episode 6!! These are good friends of mine. I wish I had taken a little more time getting good overhead drum mic placement. It really made a negative impact on the entire mixing process...I was having trouble finding the balance for the cymbals, they are too swishy in parts and underwhelming in others. Either way, it's a fun episode. Enjoy!

I did notice the overheads being too loud in the first song. But the band is great, love the bio stuff in there too. Great job!
