Basically, you take your band's multitrack stems, make a midi chart for each instrument (Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals), and package it up.

The completed file goes into playtesting, and then, when the RBN store opens in March, it goes up for sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

You'll need a $99/a yr XMA membership and Xbox Live Gold. Or, alternatively you could pay a charting company to do it for you:

There are some pretty big names already on board,

The Devil Wears Prada
Suicide Silence
Whitechapel

or, for those not into metal

Blondie
Bill Bruford's Earthworks
Carl Douglas

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are losing tens of millions this year. Looks like the fad may be over - good thing

You don't like the games?
I suppose they're not "real" guitar, but I think they're fun. Also, there are some pretty cool things being done with using GH hardware and software to create new music.

People bitter about Rock Band/Guitar Hero are people who've never played either for more than the time it takes to realize it's not the same as playing guitar.
Try a couple songs on easy, you'll probably love it.
Personally I find that playing drums on Rock Band 2 helps my tempo and consistency quite a bit when playing real drums.

I'm not anti-GH/RB in anyway (they are enjoyable games), but if you practiced real drums instead, you'd still get better at tempo and consistency, and probably moreso.
