If the artists is independent (which is best).He might work with you on a affordable 1 0n 1 basis.But if you go with a major design company (which is expensive) they'll open up all types of bullshyt options for you.Major companies do it by the packages and by the hour.In which,a independent artist will give you a flat fee and go at it.I design CD covers for Clubhouse Records outta Chicago and I'm also in charge of their internet design and promotions.If you wanna holla at me.Feel free to pm me.

If you’re looking for something very cool and very professional, check out my good friends at Unified Design Labs. http://www.unifieddesignlabs.com/
They are a small (4 people) well respected design studio with a lot of talent and a lot of experience at creating CD inserts – not to mention they are some of the best people you will ever have the pleasure of working with. One of the designers is the former art director for Priority Records (Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Godhead….). He joined up with UDL to get out of the LA rat race.
Sorry, I have no idea how much they charge though.
