wave files,mp3 files,how many files are there?

For most people, .wav and .mp3 are the only file formats that matter.

File formats such as .vqf and .wma are other competing audio compression methods, but they aren't really quite to widespread. .wma is popular with some because it can be copy protected.

Do you have any specific questions about any format in particular?
 
Never mind !!!!

I just found it on the internet.The wave file was created by microsoft a long time ago so that computers could play small bits of audio.The MP-3 file is nothing more than a compressed wave file 1.5 times smaller than the wave which works better on the web..
