Using the line out of a Zoom H5 to a Yamaha MD8 8 track recorder

Hello all -

I am hoping to pick up a Zoom H5 and am wondering about the line out of the H5. I am planning to take the recorded tracks on the H5 and then sending them to my Yamaha MD8 digital 8 track, yes it is an out of date machine. Will this work via the H5 line out using a 1/8" Y connector to 1/4"? Will the stereo signal be split L to one of the 1/4" and R to the other 1/4"? My MD8 has 1/4" unbalanced line inputs and also 2 xlr inputs.

Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

If it's the right kind of Y-cable it should work. Tip of the 1/8" TRS should go to tip of one 1/4" TS and ring of the 1/8" TRS should go to tip of the other 1/4" TS.

Should work. Hey, I still have my mdr 4. Outdated yes, but a handy little machine.
Wish it was an 8, I'd take it to rehearsals.
But it's great for a music sketchpad.

Couldn't sell it if I tried, hahaha. And I have tried. :D
Might as well use it.

Yes, the MD8 has a -10dBu (not V) line sensitivity so there should easily be enough level/gain in that system.

Dave.
