The RT2 has a DI for electric guitars in front and it has a Hi Z switch for it. If you dont use the Hi Z switch the volume is much less thru headphones but you cn still hear it... so it seems that there is some pre amp action even if you dont hit the Z switch. Usually if you use a separate pre amp or fx box that has a pre amp in it...you would plug in around back into a 1/4 inch jack because you would be at line level already from the pre amp box you were using....you wouldnt want to pre amp your signal twice or it could damage your gear....but I am curious...if you didnt switch in the Z switch on the RT2 ..could you
