right now i'm just using the on-board sound of my ASUS k8n-e deluxe. i have a midi evolution keyboard going into a usb port. i'm finding that when i play the keyboard, there is a bit of latency. does this have anything to do wth me using onboard sound, even though i'm not connection anything to inputs on the soundcard (the usb port is separate)?
if a better soundcard would help, is there any rating to look at on the manufacturer's specsheet that indicates how much latency a soundcard will produce. i realize that its heavily based on the cup and ram of the computer as well, but those areas should be pretty strong in my computer.
