PC Recording setup & Studio Monitors

Hi All,

I have a very basic setup - purely for my own enjoyment. I have a PC with an SBLive soundcard, and use this to play backing tracks which I play along with on guitar using a Line 6 POD connected to mic in on the card. I have been using this setup with crappy PC speakers, and decided to upgrade, so I bought myself a set of Behringer Truth Active monitors.

My question is this - at the moment these are connected to the line out on my soundcard, and work great. The only problem is I have to wait for Windows to load, mute the sound on the soundcard, turn the speakers on, and increase the volume again on the card. Is there a better (or correct?) way to connect these to a PC? I'm looking for a very cheap solution, but basically one that will allow be to route the speakers through something that I can use to control the volume with.

Any tips/advice on this setup would be great.

Cheers,
D
