Olympus Digital Voice recorder DM-650 won't charge?

I have an Olympus Digitial DM 650 recorder. It used to charge via USB just fine, but now it says 'cannot charge' with an NI sign. The batteries are definitely correct, and as I said before it used to charge just fine. What may be the problem?
 
I don't know the answer but these are removable triple-A batteries, right?
I'd either replace them, or try to charge the ones you have in a standard battery charger.

Batteries and and chargers can be funny. Sometimes you just need to get them started. ;)
 
Rechargeable batteries die.
They don't have an unlimited lifespan and when they go bad they stop taking a charge.
Replace them.
