MOTU 24 i/o converters vs. Firepod converters

Would the converters on the MOTU 24 i/o be better than the converters on the Firepod?

Also, would the MOTU's PCI-424 card be better than using the Firepod's firewire?

I haven't had any problems with my two Firepods, but I am thinking of getting a MOTU 24 i/o to replace them. I can save a rack space that way and I'm thinking that the PCI-424 will be better than the firewire.
