Laptop Help

hi

I'm having a problem with a laptop.. I originally thought it was the soundcard but I tried another one and it's the same thing..

I'll have a song playing and then try to add vocals.. as soon as I hit the record button all I hear is my voice because the music gets muted.. it's like the laptop won't let me monitor the other tracks at the same time as recording... I tried 2 different soundcards MAudio FW410 and a Presonus Firebox.. both work great on the desktop computer but neither work with the laptop.. it's not an old laptop either..

I wonder if it's a motherboard type issue or something..

everything is set up correctly and I've done the basic tweaks etc..


does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you sure you don't have the solo button on your vocal track? What software are you using?/

I figured it out and it was total user error on my part.. and I mean total user error!
