Being that the overall price would be about the same, do you think that the control of the Mackie Control is better than the digi 002? Thanks.

Or would this be good too, if I got a Yamaha 01v96 or a Tascam DM-24 instead of the mackie, (if they support PT, which i think they do) then I would have the ADAT and S/PDIF options too, right? Thanks again.

Keeping in mind that the Digi 002 rack doesn't support PC yet, I'll assume you either have a Mac or don't care if it won't work for a while.
While I really love my 002 and its control surface, I'd probably do it over with a rack and separate control surface. That way I can use the control surface with other apps, upgrade to Pro Tools | HD, or whatever. The 002 is a dead-end investment compared to the 002 rack and a seprate surface.
I do enjoy having only one box to carry around and not 2, but that is the only advantage I can see to having the self contained uint. Of course, I'd probably just leave the control surface at home when I traveled...
That said, I've never used any of the other surfaces, so I don't really know how it will work.
