Capturing Streaming Audio/Video

Hey guys,

Anybody know if it's possible to capture streaming audio or video off the net or if that is as ridiculous of a notion as I think it may be. If so, any software you need in particular. Just wondering really. Lotta streamed shows out there I'd love to have on disc for the future. Thanks a ton!

Tired of paying the monthly fees for porn sites eh?

You can use Morpheus, its a great Napster type program for downloading sound and videos.

Go to www.fileplanet.com and search for video programs. Might be some capture programs there you can evaluate.
 
No actually I've figured out how to trap my porn, I was wondering more about like streaming live concerts that aren't found on morpheus and the like.

Streaming audio. If you hear it you can record it, right? Can you feed the output of your soundcard into the line in of your soundcard (assuming its a full duplex card). I've never tried this so I don't know.:cool:

The very low tech way is to use a video card with analog I/O and video tape it. Then re-record it back into the comp and onto CD or something.
 
Digital Don, I think I understand you're idea, might try it but TexRoadkill, I'm not sure I get yours, if you could expand I'd REALLY appreciate it, it's the video that I'm primarily concerned with capturing, thanks a ton in advance!

The ATI video cards have very good RCA video in/outs that you can plug into a vcr. Just record your computer output on the VCR then use a video recording program to record on your computer as you play the video back on the VCR.

This is a very lo-tech way to do it and does require the video card. You can probably get one for less than $100. The advantage is that you can record anything you see on your montor without worrying about digital security locks or anything.

There may be better software only solutions but I am not too familliar with them. Check out www.screenblast.com that may work for you.
