Can we talk about Cakewalk (formerly Sonar?)

Approaching autumn has me getting into recording mode. I use Studio One, but I'm going to spend a number of days with some other DAWs just to see if another workflow or style will jump up and love me. I'm going to demo Ableton, and probably Pro Tools, and I am wondering about Cakewalk. People seem to either love it or think that it is not normal and would be a better doorstop than a DAW. I take from comments I have read that it seems to have a somewhat unusual style.

I do mostly audio tracking, but do a little of several things: strings, synth (not much,) some loops.
The important thing is that it have a wide range of abilities and a work flow which agrees with me.

So, if you love it or hate it - why? What is the flavour of the thing?

Thank you.
