.avi and .mov to .wav

Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong, but you should be able to play the AVI/MOV file, and use any of the shareware audio programs that have audio recording capabilty to record the audio portion of the file as the video file plays.

This would be the cheapest way to do it. The quality shouldn't be too bad, although it's not going to be that great either. You can try it with the Windows Sound Recorder to hear what it sounds like.

I tried doing this many different ways but it either recorded nothing or said that another audio device is in use and I should try to record later. Am I doing this wrong or is there another way?

So I solved my problem:
I was able to get a copy of Adobe Premiere from a friend and using that program I could load videos and then export any part of the audio in any format. The only problem is if you don't know anybody with the program it gets expensive. And I will be deleting it when I'm done the small job I have to do.

Thanks for the help eveyone!!
