ASIO keeps stopping dead since upgrade to Windows 10 1903

Recently I have been finding that my ASIO keeps stopping dead for no apparent reason. This has been happening since Windows 10 was upgraded to 1903, but I don't know if this is a coincidence. This happens both when I am using Reaper and when I am using Guitar Rig in standalone mode. What happens is that the audio suddenly stops. In Reaper I can get it going again by opening and shutting the audio settings. In Guitar Rig I have to quit the application and restart. What could be causing this and how can I stop it?

Try removing and reinstalling your ASIO drivers. Also windows has a preference to try to send out audio on HDMI so if you have an HDMI display disable the HDMI Playback device in the Sound control panel.
