The Intel's under most conditions are better at floating point operations (which is something that processor intensive applications like recording software need at an optimal). Depending on how many tracks of audio you plan on recording at once, as well as how many at playback, the K6 may suit your needs. If your hard drive is fairly recent, at least UDMA/33, I would conservativly guess that you should be able to get at least 8 tracks playback, but probably more.
