Hi... This is my first topic, as I'm new to serious recording. I'm in the middle of a sound engineering course at the moment in fact, and am mainly interested in analog recording. I reckon I'll get a 1" 8 track deck, but I'd like to hear some opinions regarding tape...
I've heard that Ampex 456 is good for the classic, old school analog sound (which really appeals to me), but I also hear that it doesnt keep too good. Is there anything similar sound-wise that wont disintegrate on me?
