Vinyl - Is it Analog or Digital?

What is the sound quality of a Vinyl - Is it considered Analog or Digital. Another question I have which is not related to Vinyl - How do you measure the quality of an Analog Recording. In digital there is 24/196, but what about analog. Last question - If I record something on my HD in Digital, then play it through DA converter and record the outcome to analog tape - Is my recording considered analog? Or is it just digital sound on the analog tape. So the real question would be - If I take analog sound; convert it to digital; then back to analog using the same converters; will it still sound the same as before the conversion. Sorry for so may questions - curiosity kills me.

Sound quality is not digital or analog at all. Sound quality is measured in things as distortion, noise/dynamics and frequency response, and that is totally independant on if it is digital or analog.

High specs in digital means (in theory) less distortion and less noise.

You can not convert from analog to dogotal and from digital to analog with the same converters, for obvious reasons.

Vinyl IS analog, but of course you knew that already.
