Hi Kids,

Is there anybody out there in the who can fix my Itam 805 8-track. The main problem seems to be the power supply, and there is also a small problem with the playback transport. I have fiddled and fiddled with this bloody machine for months but due to my lack of electrical engineering skills and knowlage, I have only been able to track down that there may be a power supply problem.

I have the scematics for the channel cards, most of the power supply and the V-speed pcb. I have also pust my multi-meter trying to check voltages. So it looks like i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get someone who knows what they are doing.

I'm not a wealthy man coz I live in London so it would be great if I could loan the machine out in exchange for a fully working machine. It will all depend on the cost of repairs.

The machine is quite rare and seems to be a peice of British recording history, so it is deffinitly worth fixing and worth borrowing for a project!! ;)

Thanks in advance for your help,

Iain

Oh cool, I was afraid you'd done something rash like chucking it out. There are people in London who service tape decks, but I couldn't give any names offhand.

There's an ex-Tascam guy in Bristol.. you should ask try asking him.
The website is http://www.electrofix.com

These people specialise in Revox machines. I've heard that the Itam is based on a hacked version of the A77 chassis, so I guess it's worth a try:
http://www.taperecorder.co.uk/index.html
They're located in Ipswich.

Here is an older thread with some links on it.

If you go to George West's Ferrograph site and click on the 'service offered' link at the left he has some links to various service outfits around the UK.

jpmorris' link to the Revox specialists would be worth following as well - the Itam is based on some Revox electronics.

Hope this helps!
