Teac X-3 Mk2 ?

I've found a Teac X-3 Mk2 on Ebay, locally, for AUD $45 (cheap).

However, I don't know what kind of reel to reel it is!

Does anyone know if it:

1. Takes 1/4 inch tape?
2. Has 1, 2 or 4 track recording capability?
3. Is a decent R2R tape recorder or not?

Thanks

Eh,... to the best of my knowledge,...

the Teac X-3 is a 4-track/2-channel/stereo recorder.

Speeds probably are 3-3/4 and 7.5 ips,... (estimate).

This is a standard consumer stereo recorder, Reel-to-Reel, that records 2-tracks in stereo in one pass, then flip over the tape to record another side of stereo on the second pass.

It will not do "4-tracking", and it will not do "overdubbing", in the true sense.

For $45, it's still probably worth it, as a hifi alternative to cassette, but don't look for miracles, and don't look for this to be an adequate "studio" recorder, the likes of the Tascam 22-4, 34 or 34B.
