TC-366 speed problem

hello
i have a problem with my TC-366 : it does not change speed when i switch from 3 3/4 to 7 1/2; and i cannot put it on 1 7/8 speed
what can be the cause ?

And if possible, can somebody explain how the different speeds are obtained?
mechanically, or electronic?

Tough to get answers for SONY gear here.

However SONY tape units have issues with motor run capacitors failing which greatly affects tape speeds. They are 1.5 mfd or 2.0 mfd depending on the model.

That could be a possible cause of your problems.

the only capacitors i found is for 50/60HZ selection; so that seems unlikely, isnce 3 3/4 runs fine !
