    Unhappy Tascam M-520 No Output

So.... My M-520 has been a really great mixer without
any issues for almost year since I bought it.
But I rearranged my Control Room area and now
she isn't responding to signals at all.
    Oscillator doesn't create any sound.
    All lights are working.
    It worked wonderfully last night.
What the hell could have happened?

I played a recording of Drums and Bass
and it came through "very" slightly/faintly
and it also had this weird squeaky sound too.
    It was really fuzzy too.

    Any ideas?

Check w/Cory -Sweetbeats. He will know.

Sounds like your power supply may have given up ghost! It's getting close to that time anyway!!!

So you've already checked all outputs? Direct outs? stereo A/B outs, aux outs?

Have you used anything more than the headphone out?

Yes, there isn't any Output nor response to signals.
    The Overload(Pre-Fader/EQ) wasn't being driven
when I was tapping a Microphone. This is on all channels.
I don't have an amplifier, so I can only use Headphones.
I opened her up to look for any disconnected cables
    and didn't find anything.

Perhaps the problem is in the Power Supply?
    Fuses?
I checked them out and didn't see anything
    too out of the ordinary.
I'm going to replace all of them tomorrow. For good measure at least.
    Any ideas on possible culprits?

Measure voltages coming out of P/S.

    Have you the service manual?

yup. +15 to that. get out your multimeter and make sure the PSU is putting out the proper voltages. Aslo, you can't go by visuals on the fuses. pull 'em out and check for continuity to determine if they're good or shot.

    Awesome. Sounds good.
Unfortunately the black test lead broke off.
I need to go buy one. Should be like $2.00 or so.
I'm glad that the fuses can still be blown
even if they don't look like it.
I was getting bummed that it might be
    something more serious.

I listened through Headphones again without
any music playing, and I still heard that
squeaking sound. It sounded like a blown fuse.

I'll keep y'all posted when I get the Fuses and new test lead.

This may sound obvious, but recheck all the switch settings, I've gotten confused on the signal routing on the 520. I don't remember exactly where the headphone signal comes from, but make sure the monitor is set up properly. If you have the manual, just trace it back through the block diagram.

Another couple of things to check, maybe...

    1. If you are using the Tape In's on the channels, make sure you have the Send and Receive RCA jacks jumper'ed or connected. If they're not connected you might get a very faint to non-existent signal on those Tape In's.

    2. Check how your power umbilical cord is connected at both ends - the mixer and the power supply. Mine is kinda touchy, so it might be something to check if you just moved a bunch of stuff around.

I hope it turns out to be something simple.

    -Tom.
