Tascam 688 - How To Adjust Eq And Faders During Playback?

BEFORE I START: I have read the manual, don't just comment "rtfm". I have not found this in it.
I can use the cue monitor section to pan and change volume, but nothing else. I want to actually adjust the eqs of tracks and have the tactile usage of faders when playing back my tapes. Particularly, I have a really bassy guitar track and I can't eq the bass out, because I'm stuck to the Cue Monitor box! :(

You have to use a "mix down" scene. Think of the 688 as two items, a 10 X 8 mixer and a 8 track recorder. the Group outs are the output of the mixer, and the Group inputs are the inputs to the tape recorder. You have to understand how the scenes work. If your 688 as the original scenes in them a mixdown scene I believe would be scene 12. This routes the 8 tape recorder outputs to the inputs of the mixer and the stereo output becomes the mix out. I have a "Unlocking the Midistudio" tape on Ebay right now.
