Tascam 424 power supply

Hey Guys, I was wondering if the Original Tascam 424 and the Newer 424 mkII use the same power supply? I have the original 424 but no power supply. Wondering if the new power supply will work. Thanks,

No.

The original 424 had a tip/sleeve type of power adapter, like any standard wall wart.

The 424mkII had an internal power supply and an attached AC power cable.

The 424mkIII has an inline power module with a 5-pin connector on the end.

Any wall wart type universal power module should be alright, as long as you have enough current. I don't know what the original power module rating was, but I'd suspect it would be at least 600mA. You should consult the manual for specifics, or maybe someone with the original 424 power module can give you the specs.

I was gonna bid on the newer type power supply on ebay, but now I will won't.Sounds like it's not the same. Don't know anyone with that machine or power supply personally, but I'll try and buy and universal power supply and check online for power specs....
