Tascam 42/48 Remote

I have a Tascam 42 and Tascam 38. I am looking to get a 48 soon.

I have the standard RC-71 remote for these machines that include the basic functionality.

The difference is that 38 has a latching Return to Zero button, so you hit rewind on the remote and it will stop near the 0000 mark.

On the 42, you have to reach over to the machine, and press the small momentary RTZ button to return to zero. The RC-71 remote does not have an RTZ so you can't use the remote. I'm more concerned about RTZ on a 48, because I would be tracking to that machine and it will be a pain to have to move over the machine to rewind to zero point.

Is there a better remote for the 42/48 series other than the RC-71?

Thanks.

The 40 series decks have the "Accessory" connector on the rear apron which can make use of Tascam's AQ-65 auto-locator which offers RTZ and a bevvy of other programmable STC points along with time display. The only thing it's missing is track arming and pitch control. Otherwise, it's pretty complete. It's also rarer then hen's teeth to find on the used market.

Cheers! :)
