Tascam 244 used by major artist

I've just been listening to a BBC radio programme featuring P J Harvey. It followed her writing the soundtrack for a stage production of "All About Eve" in London. She revealed that she still uses a 244 to compose and record demos - that she doesn't like digital and prefers the character and hiss (hiss on a 244? - never!). Says if a song won't work with an instrument and one or two vocals it will never work. Interesting that she also said that she tries to do the recordings in one or two takes - any more and the soul goes out of it. Guess I've learned that too and try to do this now!
