RMGI 911 tape equal to 456 tape??

Yes.

RMGI SM911 is a drop in replacement for 456. It is a +6 1.5mil tape. With that being said, it is adviseable to rebias the deck if you are switching from something to the 911. 456 and 911 will be close, but not exact. Even a deck running different batches of one type of tape from the same manufacturer can benefit from a bias check.

So if I'm using a calibration to a calibrate for 456 tape now.....can I use the same calibration tape to calibrate for the RMGI SM911?

Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a calibration tape is used to set the reproduce levels of the machine only. The record parameters are the ones that must be adapted to a certain tape formula. So, yes, you can use the same calibration tape.
