The Company’s rich history and quality leader position date back to the days of WWII, when General Eisenhower assigned Major John Orr to develop an American magnetic tape manufacturing facility. That company, in 1959, became a part of the Ampex Corporation. In 1995 Ampex sold the Ampex Recording Media Corporation division to outside investors and it became Quantegy, Inc., which moved its headquarters to the Ampex Recording Media Corp. manufacturing facility in Opelika, AL.
In Professional Video, Quantegy supplies a wide range of analog and digital videotape products. The Company continues to be the industry leader in the Analog Audio Market. In the last decade, more gold and platinum records have been made on their famous formulations than on all the other brands combined, and most Hollywood motion pictures feature soundtracks recorded on Quantegy.

Corporate headquarters, a sales call center, and a manufacturing facility are located in Opelika, ½ mile from Interstate 85 at Exit 60. The campus has 542,000 square foot of facility, comprised of 4 major structures and 18 minor ones, on a 36 acre parcel of land. Included in the structures is a 40,000 square foot class 10,000 clean room. The production lines utilize a broad array of equipment, including a very advanced line for metal particle products, equipment conducive to precision coating and capable of simultaneously coating two layers, and state-of-the-art slitting machinery.
In addition, Quantegy has a direct sales force located in key market areas, is supported by Menlo warehouse and logistic operation in Ontario, CA and Harrisburg, PA. Direct sales and an outside warehouse in Toronto support Canada. Quantegy Europe headquarters are in Nijmegen, The Netherlands and an additional office is located in London. The Asia/Pacific region is handled out of their offices in Hong Kong. A global indirect distribution network from Russia to China and Indonesia to Brazil supports all of the countries in other parts of the world.
