Hi, I've been looking online for a reel to reel recorder to mix down to for mastering purposes. I'm also very low on space so I was looking for somethin used that could would fit in my rack. Does anybody have experience with the Pioneer RT 701? Would it be acceptable for my purpose?

RT-701 was made more for home-use.
Speeds are 3-3/4 and 7-1/2.
I would suggest another newer machine instead.
Small space, hmm, why not a Tascam 22-2 (2-track) or 22-4 (4-track)
Both have 7-1/2 and 15 speed + the 22-4 also built in pitch-control.
Very dependable decks and you can still buy new parts from Tascam.
If you looking at "E-boy" you can find these pretty cheap, but be careful and ask alot of questions first.
Both models can be rack-mounted by the way. (rack-ears is needed)

Good Luck :)
