No room in my garage so I will have to pass on the bidding... Some say that no Tascam could sound as good as an Ampex or Sony/MCI. Perhaps they have not heard one of these....

    Arrow Toronto.

Perfect score for Ghost of FM.

    I would but I lack a certain $3300, momentarily.

There is nothing "prosumer" about that bad boy. Man, that is nice!

HmmmÖ I can tell my wife itís a new dishwasher. It just needs a little work, so Iíll have to keep it in my studio for a while.

That's my buddy Patrick, (my technician who restored my MS-16 recently), who's selling it!

I've seen the machine in person in his shop and have been very tempted to grab it but unfortunately, it won't fit through my studio door, which is the second bedroom in my apartment. It misses getting through the door by about 3 inches even with the door removed.

Add to that, that I can't really justify buying it in that 16 tracks is just about right for my needs now and for the foreseeable future.

But...If I move to better accomidations.... and it's still available...all bets are off!

    Cheers!

It's 100% functional, very minimal wear on the heads and a few minor scratches on the cabinet and remote. Patrick's a very experienced technician with these machines as well as all the other majors like MCI and Studer so you can be sure it's in very good working condition.

Keep in mind though, this is a 486 pound monster, not including the remote, which is close to 100 pounds with the trolley and umbilical cables. Shipping would be a major issue to deal with and a major expense to do properly. For me, he could deliver it right to my front door in his van but for anyone out of town or out of country, it would be a completely different ball game and probably explains why he's having a hard time finding a new home for it.

    Cheers!

That's sound like an excellent deal indeed.

Yeah, I knew it was going to be around that 400-500 lb mark .. The remote alone weighs more than each of my 4 - 8 track recorders / mixers!

Crating would work nicely but would cost an arm and a leg. A nice thought would be a local pickup. I envy your proximity to that machine!
