Need help with equipment

Aloha, I have received some recording equipment and I want to know what else I may need to get some recording done. The following is a list of items.
Teac A-2340 w/simulsync
Akai 4000DS Mk II
Tascam 102 Cassette Machine
Tascam M-1516
Alesis 3630 Compressor
Digitech DSR-24

I am a Bass player, so I do know a little about music and sound, just not recording it. Any suggestions would be a great help.
 
sounds like you need cables and a microphone. in my opinion even electric bass sounds better mic'ed from an amp (surely some would disagree). you'll need some tape for the reel to reels as well.

there's lots of ways to do it, but if I were stuck in a room with that stuff, I'd use the compressor as an insert on the preamp of the mixer on the way in (don't go too heavy on it though, experiment & see if you like the sound better w/o it after stuff has gone to tape) > you'll be recording on to the Teac (you've got 4 tracks !!!!) then mixing you can use the digitec FX on the AUX or FX send/return on the mixer. you could mix either to cassette or the Akai. try them both!
